Bruce Cooper Clarke (1901-1988) was born in Adams, New York. After graduating from West Point in 1925, he commissioned with the Army Corps of Engineers. In 1940 he graduated from Command and General Staff School. During World War II, he served as combat commander in the 7th and 4th Armored Divisions. He made brigadier general in November 1944.
